My edema started May 2023 during my mom's wake (died of colon cancer), when I returned 2 plant/animal based foods, lack of sleep for almost 6mos, stressed of misunderstandings w/ sibs & aunts, ignored the on/off swelling, for we thought it was just bcoz of tiring days & nights. Few months later, while I'm more on animal based foods, salty, oily foods, holding pee (sometimes), I had blurry vision, weakness, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, nausea, & the swelling never goes away...been to 2 docs last April-May 2024, had cholesterol (higher than with those who have high blood), UTI, +3 protein but 1 doc told my kidneys were still okay 😂. Took meds, but experienced bloating for more than 3 days, cannot sleep, itchy skin, thirsty, dry throat, etc..feels like it was the end of my life. Last May 2024, been to endocrinologist then to nephro & diagnosed w/ nephrotic syndrome & told to undergo kidney biopsy (no money yet for it). June 2024, I stopped taking meds for cholesterol & protein leaking. I tried oatmeal esp at dinner, no salt, no meat, even fish I limit, more on fruits & veggies esp apple, pineapple, soursop, drink boiled herbal leaves. Thanks God, quite ok now less pain on sweeling feet

Your table for cows milk minerals should say mg rather than grams per cup. Small point…

Dr Ken Berry cites case studies showing overwhelmingly that eating high levels of protein and animal fat does NOT decrease kidney function. The same study actually show improved kidney function in participants who were placed on a low carb/high animal protein diet

Celtic sea salt is also a good alternative that has more minerals than Himalayan salt. I have both salts in one grinder to get the best of both salts.

First, I am fighting obesity myself so i get it. I was excited to hear how one lady followed your plant based recommendations and she lost weight and fixed her kidneys. I was going to buy your book, until i saw your having such a weight gain (not an insult, just an observation). Do you follow your own advice or does the advice not work? I am female, 67 years old, have stage 5 CKD with a gfr of 15, last Christmas I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer, my days are numbered unfortunately and I am scared to death of dying :( Funnily enough my BP is low, always has been, and my cholesterol is 4.1, also non diabetic...go figure!

You should discuss why blood exams predict low eGFR while urine protein becomes less and less….which on should we believe?

You should discuss how blood pressure and diabetes drugs affect the kidneys and question if these actually harm it instead of controlling it

Thanks James for this channel. My son's GFR was down to 11 after a minor dog bite and he got Sepsis and the scarring affected the kidneys. Was up to 19, this week at 18. Took celebrex for years for arthritis. Unknowing to me, NSAIDS are damaging to kidneys. Currently at stage 3 CKD. Making diet changes. Thanks for the informative videos.

I am 34 years old and my medical test results show normal blood pressure, normal blood glucose, normal Hb1AC, normal TSH, T3, T4 levels , normal kidney size, and normal ultrasound results. However, my creatinine level is 1.7, eGFR is 53, GGT is 132, and uric acid is 8.3. Please, whoever reading please provide a diagnosis based on these results? Also, can I start the keto diet? Good points... But the more important things above all are 1) Control Your blood sugar 2) Control your high blood pressure before its too late. If you do not control High Bp and High blood sugar in your 30s and 40s your gonna end up in Dialysis clinic. I am a Nephrology nurse and trust me there is no going back once youre in it, until you get your new kidney.

They only thing i don't agree with is the naive advice to trust your local doctor for anything. Ever since obamacare, going to the doctor for anything has become useless. It's just a big scam. Most doctors have no clue what they're doing and don't care at all about helping you. They just do nothing and then charge you 5k. Instead of trusting doctors, get on UA-cam and do your research. I'm a huge fan of intermittent fasting and keto dieting. Self taught and seeing great results. No doctor needed.
